  12. The First iMac iCon

  15. Introduction:
  16. This icon was done the day after Apple unveiled the new iMac G3 consumer model. I was so excited by the design, I wanted to be the first to make an icon of it. I uploaded it to Info-Mac the next day, making this the very first iCon of it's kind! I worked exclusively for Pixelhaus at that time, but have now folded all my icons into the Iconfactory, this one included. If you have downloaded the P2 version from Info-mac, this is the same icon but with a bolder black border added to make it consistent with other Iconfactory Apple Desktop icons. It is also available as part of Corey Marion's excellent Apple Desktop Collection icon set here at the 'Factory (it's in the Warehouse). Please take the time to download these wonderful icons - you're sure to find something you'll like!

  31. Download Icondropper from the Iconfactory!

  35. 1. You need system 7 or higher.
  36. 2. Do a "Get Info" (File menu) on the origina icon file that you want to use.
  37. 3. Click on the icon in the window; choose "Copy" (Edit menu).
  38. 4. Close the window, then "Get Info" on destination file/disk.
  39. 5. Click on the icon, choose "Paste" (Edit menu).

  42. On replacing the trash icon:
  43. Many people ask us how to go about replacing their Mac's trash icon with a custom one. There are several ways to go about replacing the trash icon, but we don't recommend messing around with system resources unless you are fairly versed with ResEdit. If you're not sure you want to mess with the guts of your Mac's system files then may we recommend a program called Zonkers! from Nova Development. Zonkers provides users with a safe, fast and easy way to customize ALL system level icons with the click of a mouse (unless you're running Mac OS 8). If you'd like to learn more about Zonkers! for the Mac and all the neat things it can do then head for: <http://www.novadevcorp.com>
